£42,000 annual pricing uplift after the Finance Fluency Corporate Accelerator

Type and size of business

UK professional services firm, 40 staff, £4.6m turnover, 11 budget-holding managers

The problem before training

Gross margin had fallen 3.4 points over two years while revenue grew. Quotes were signed off by operations, not finance, and nobody could explain where the margin had gone.

What the manager misunderstood

Quotes were priced at direct cost plus a fixed 20% mark-up. Supervision, rework and non-billable time were never allocated, so true contribution on three service lines was close to zero.

What changed after the programme

Managers rebuilt the quoting model on contribution margin, repriced two service lines, introduced a minimum-margin sign-off, and withdrew from one loss-making contract type.

How the £42,000 was calculated

  • Service line A: 128 jobs a year repriced by an average £185 net of lost volume — £23,680
  • Service line B: minimum-margin rule removed 9 below-cost jobs a year — £11,430
  • Contract type withdrawn: recovered supervision time redeployed to billable work — £6,890
  • Total measured annualised uplift — £42,000 (rounded)

Measured over the twelve months following delivery against the baseline agreed in the diagnostic, and verified from the client\'s own management accounts.

"The programme paid for itself in the first pricing meeting. My managers stopped defending the quote and started defending the margin — and they now ask better questions than I do."

Saved a family café £14,200 in tax & rebuilt their cash flow

Challenge

A second-generation café was paying too much tax, had no real visibility on weekly cash, and was at risk of falling behind on VAT.

What we did

Restructured ownership, moved them onto Xero with daily till sync, set up a 13-week cash-flow forecast, and reclaimed eligible expenses going back two years.

Results

  • £14,200 tax saved in year 1
  • VAT returns submitted on time, every quarter
  • Owner now reviews numbers in 15 minutes a week

"We finally feel in control of the business instead of the business controlling us."

Automated 22 hours of admin a week with AI

Challenge

A 12-person software firm was drowning in invoice chasing, onboarding paperwork and weekly reporting — eating into billable time.

What we did

Mapped their workflow, built AI-powered automations for invoicing, client onboarding and Slack-based reporting, and trained the team to maintain it.

Results

  • 22 hrs/week of admin removed
  • Invoice-to-cash cut from 38 to 11 days
  • Team NPS up after admin load dropped

"The audit alone paid for itself in the first month. Six months on, we wouldn't go back."
