Accounts Assistant
Support our UK accounting team with bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and month-end across a portfolio of SMEs and charities. Great opportunity to grow under a UK-licenced accountant (FMAAT, MBA) with study support toward AAT/ACCA.
Key responsibilities
- Daily bookkeeping on Xero, QuickBooks Online and FreeAgent
- Bank reconciliations, sales/purchase ledger, expense processing
- Prepare and submit VAT returns under MTD
- Assist with monthly payroll, pensions and CIS submissions
- Support year-end accounts and corporation tax workpapers
- Liaise professionally with clients via email, phone and WhatsApp
- Maintain accurate records and follow GDPR/AML procedures
Essential
- AAT Level 3 (or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA), or 2+ years UK bookkeeping experience
- Confident with Xero and/or QuickBooks Online
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Right to work in the UK
- Clear written and spoken English
Desirable
- Experience with charity/SORP accounting
- Knowledge of MTD for ITSA
- Exposure to AI tools (ChatGPT, Dext, Hubdoc) for automation
